Tuesday's Good Reads

A Hero of Our Times

I recently got the chance to review a good British e-book. One thing that can get confusing for some people is the difference in the forms of English between the US and the UK. The book was very good and had my attention for the very beginning. I did find a few minor typos in the e-book, but overall enjoyed the read. If you can overlook these typos, and you like a good British story, this is a must read.

A True Hero

Some people look at Superman, Batman, or Ironman for saving the world. These heroes are not real. Today, I have a few people that I could put as who are true heroes, but I want to focus on one in particular. This person has given of herself to so many others. She has turned her own bad situation into a learning experience for others. She has taken the battle she had to find information and resource for her to create "A Gift of Awareness". It is a non-profit that offers information to people with cancer. This woman is Sara Carstensen. She is now moving on to another battle. She is taking on the Florida government for the chance to make medical marijuana legal.  She was recently featured in an article speaking out on this issue, click here to read the article. She found that with her treatments, it was the only way that she was willing to eat anything or to hold down what she did eat. No one should have to suffer or risk jail time to have something that works, and she has proven herself to be a real life hero

Wednesday's Wondering

We have all had those moments when we think or ponder on something, but we chose to just keep thinking about it, even when there are no real easy answers. One of my favorites is contemplating why "The answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42". Okay, truthfully, I am a Douglas Adams fan.

So today, the wondering for this week is straight out of "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium". Why is there never the same amount of hot dogs as there are hot dog buns, in the packages?

Monday's Wall Of Shame

On Monday's, we will be featuring a Wall of Shame. This will highlight those that like to hire freelancers or make purchases from small business but they refuse to pay for the hard work that goes with it.  For this week our spotlight goes to the repeat offender Brad Murphy from oDesk. He also goes by the name Himachol Titu on Facebook and Boby Tailor on Skype.

If you receive an offer to work for him. work at your own risk. He does not like to pay for the writing done, and he wants to "see" you. Here is proof from his Skype to your eyes.

[10/9/2013 9:34:03 PM] Boby  Tailor: i want to talk with you for 1 min
[10/9/2013 9:34:11 PM] Boby  Tailor: or please give your number
[10/9/2013 9:34:48 PM] Theresa Johnson: I can get a typed message, I do not do voice, because my daughter is sleeping.

[10/9/2013 9:35:17 PM] Boby  Tailor: just want to see you

Small Business Sunday

Each Sunday, a new business will be featured, for the week. Only rule is that the business must be a small business. No Corporations. No exceptions. You can ask for a company to be featured, but ultimate decision is left to Lewis and Theresa. No companies are able to pay for a spotlight spot. These are based strictly on the quality of work provided by the small businesses.

This week for the featured small business, we are traveling to freezing cold Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
